On August 27-28, in the Hopi Village of Bacavi, on the Third Mesa, the Hopi Tribe in conjunction with Soul Dog Rescue,  Best Friends Animal Society & AsaVet hosted the first (hopefully annual) spay/neuter clinic. 132 dogs and cats were sterilized and 30 were surrendered to foster care and new families. Our clinic on March 24-25, 2017 in Moenkopi, AZ sterilized 101 dogs & cats and found homes for 5. In Polacca, AZ in March of 2018, 20 animals were taken to foster care and 76 animals were sterilized. In July of 2018 we rescued 46 dogs and sterilized 72 in Kykotsmovi.  In March of 2019, 114 more dogs and cats were sterilized in Bacavi, 185 received life-saving vaccinations and 34 were rescued and rehomed. Our last clinic was held August 24-25, 2019 at the Tewa Community Building in Polacca. All future clinics are TBA due to the pandemic.  In the meantime, we will be shipping pet food to the tribe quarterly which will be distributed in various villages.
